Summer Ridin'

Last weekend we finally got summer weather around here. In case you don't own a calendar, last weekend was Labour Day...but I digress.

Among other things, we kept to tradition and hit up the CNE aka the Canadian National Exhibition aka The Ex aka a huge two-week carnival/midway on Friday.

This year we brought the GoPro! Warning - some of the shots look as shaky as the rides felt.

BSB on Video

The other day I posted the pictures from the BSB concert that I went to with my sister. While nothing beats the real deal - and believe me, it was incredible - I took some videos for y'all! Some are better than others...just excuse the cellphone quality!

And hordes of screaming girls...and maybe my occasional singing... :)

Concert Intro

As Long As You Love Me...just like the music video

Quit Playin' Games with Heart...Is it just me or are those girls on stage totally unappreciative of their luck?

I Want It That Way...this is a short one

We've Got It (Goin' On)...oh hellllll yes they still do! Quality here starts of bad but improves.

Backstreet's Back (Everybody)...My absolutely favourite!! Of course it has the worst quality of them all :(

What's your favourite Backstreet Boys song??

#Cali2013 - The Video

This 9-minute video is the best representation of just how fantastic our trip was. In a way, it's also an ad for doing a California road trip, which I cannot recommend enough!

Thanks to dC for shooting* & producing this. Also, for putting up a good fight to buy a GoPro before we went away. It was worth it.

*Some is shot with a regular digital camera (most often by me)

Catnipped

So we gave Koko catnip for the first time last night in a little mouse toy pouch. Below is what ensued - for like 30 minutes.

Catnip affects all cats differently (and some not at all). In Koko's case, he was super energized and I think he had a lot of fun. We also had quite a bit of fun watching :)

Koko Explores

I can share [dC's] Vine videos! That and the fact that these videos of Koko are awesome is the main driving force behind this post.

This is my absolute fave. With the nice weather, Koko was let out on the balcony on a leash to explore...

His love for water is nothing new, but he usually just stares at it...

Still, can't wait for Vine on Android!!! *hint hint Vine devs!*

Props to J-Law

Every Jennifer needs a nickname, right? Especially ones that are ON FIRE! Jennifer Lawrence is clearly so on fire.

Very rarely am I smitten with a female celebrity but I'm really excited about her. She's clearly talented - 3 awards in 3 months don't lie! - and she's got such a sweet & funny personality if you've seen her interviews and her SNL hosting.

Pretty much...we should be BFFs.

In case you missed the Oscars, here are the J-Law highlights. The dress was drop dead gorgeous.

Young Hollywood is full of over-confident douchebags *ahem Kristen Stewart*, that it's just refreshing to see someone, a girl no less, who hasn't been sucked in by it & is clearly focusing on the acting.

I'm also super excited to see her in 'Silver Linings Playbook' when I'm done reading the book. Not just because her performance is so critically acclaimed, but because I'm loving this book! If I had more time than just my commute to read, I'd be done by now.

So if you're not familiar with, or rooting for, J-Law yet, it's time you do so!

Bon Jovi: The Video

dC made a compilation video of the pictures & videos we took the other night to my two most favourite songs, both of which we heard at the concert!

It's the End of the World...Maybe

Hey there fellow world citizens. I'm going to write this even though you might not even ever read it. This whole end of the world thing is probably just hyped up but you just never know. I keep asking what time its' going happen - when the 21st starts or when it ends? What time zone are we following? No one has told me.

But the saddest part of all - it didn't even motivate me to do crazy things. That could be a blessing - blowing my savings and the world not ending would be so anticlimactic - but it could also just be proof of the low point that my motivation has reached. #fail

But I super love that I was challenged to think about the #1 thing I would do if we really knew the world was ending.
Thank you Lauren!

Lauren, of lauren vs reality fame, wrote a song and put together a fantastic video about the end of the world. Watching what others would do was equally as amazing. Mike, myself and Coco all made it into the video with our 'last minute' wishes.

So if you only watch one more video before the world ends, watch this one...

Now tell me...what would you have done with this impending doom?!

Except...no one may even get to read this...

Walk off the Earth...Amazing!

I am beyond happy that we managed to get tickets to this show last week because it was down right fan-fucking-tastic!!
Check out the getting-pumped-up post here.

From the venue (very fitting) & opening acts, to the performances and music - just crazy good.

Here are pics from the show. When I figure out how to upload to YouTube I will show you a live performance of this awesomeness.

Opening the show

WOTE!

Marshall :)

Gianni :)

They let giants balloons go!

The famous 5-people-1-guitar performance of  'Somebody that I used to know' (video to come!)

I know this looks like dust, but there was also CONFETTI!!!! I may or may not have saved some...

Since I only shared covers with you last time, here's an original - love this song!

Walk off the Earth...Tonight!!!

No, please don't go and actually do that. It's a band. A band that I'm going to see tonight. A band that I've been waiting to see since February!

They are a Canadian band (from Burlington, near Toronto) so some many of you may not know them but you really need to give them a listen. The covers are my favourite and what really got me into this band; I love covers in general so that was easy. I've been listening to their original stuff in prep of the concert & they are just as good!

Below are my favourite covers to get you started, but check out their YouTube page!

Their amazing 5-people-1-guitar cover of Gotye's overplayed 'Somebody That I Used to Know' really got their name out there

Tied for first place in my favourites is their genius cover of Rihanna's 'Man Down' - way better than her own version

And the second #1 favourite has to be LMFAO's 'Party Rock Anthem' - totally changed the song for me!

They've even covered Adele's 'Someone Like You'

And most recently they did Maroon 5's 'Payphone' - a song that so so annoying in its original form

All of these are a MUST WATCH and I promise promise promise it will be worth it! If not, I will reimburse your time. Yes I will.

Montreal - The Video

A glimpse of our trip to Montreal in video...

Thank you to dC who did such an amazing job on it!

I'm almost done with pictures, but since he's off work right now he had plenty of free time on his hands to create this awesomeness! :P

HAPPY WEEKEND Y'ALL!

July 4, 2012

Our 15 Seconds of Fame

A couple days before we left for our Montreal adventures, a friend with friends in high places made a proposition we couldn't refuse. A couple parts of the NBA Social Media Awards were being filmed in Toronto's The Score studios on said friend's friends' NBA show, The Basketball Jones. Are you confused yet?

Anyway, they needed extras for the segment and guess who 2 of these extras were! That's right, #teamdCdK!

Here's the video - forward to 1:05 minutes to check us out!

A note to talent hunters - please contact us to iron out the details. Thank you.

Everyone's an addict

I would have posted about the weekend but none of my pictures are uploading so there'll be a delay on that.

Instead, here's a video of yours truly [more inebriated than I had originally thought] on a [very] mini rant about addicts. Why addicts? Because a couple of months ago I was obsessed with the show Intervention and would watch episode after episode thinking, "How are people so massively fucked!" but I couldn't get enough. My own little addiction if you will. Essentially, every shady individual was suspected to be an addict for a time after that LOL

Taken on the [new!] subway at around 1:30am
Speech bubbles courtesy of dC; he says you're welcome.

Stay tuned because there's another video in this series and the weekend post is coming!

Grammy Post Show

Last year I did a Golden Globes "tweet-cap" and since I fell asleep during the Globes this year I thought I'd make up for it with the Grammys. Here it is!

My twitter*

Yup that's it. Within an hour I had already fallen asleep on the couch and then decided I'd rather be comfy in my bed. Award shows get less and less interesting every year.

I did however hear that the Grammys brought you this atrocity:

The only video not (yet) blocked by YouTube

*Note: I do not mean to me insensitive about Whitney Houston's death. But I wouldn't want to have been the Grammys producer(s) this past weekend, that's for sure.

You will thank me after you watch...I didn't even watch Sesame Street & still loved the shit out of this!

Halloween is 'creeping' up! (Video Fun)

Since I don't decorate for Halloween I was trying to get into the spooky spirit a little bit today (that may or may not have been at work) and came across these genius videos! Enjoy!

Can't wait to see everyone's costumes!

Don't be a Drag, Just be a Queen!

Saw this wise status on Facebook the other day:

So let's see...Kelsey Grammer can end a 15 yr marriage by phone, Larry King can be on divorce #9, Britney Spears had a 55 hour marriage, Jesse James and Tiger Woods - while married - were having sex with EVERYONE, 53% of Americans get divorced and 30-60% cheat on their spouses. Yet, same-sex marriage is going to destroy the institution of marriage? Really?

I’m not really going to comment because it’s self-explanatory. However, I still struggle to understand why people care so much about controlling others’ actions when they have no affect one your own life.

Is restricting gay marriage going to dissolve the GLBT community? Umm, no. All you’re really doing is restricting them from supporting the economy with outrageous wedding spending. And you know, all that marriage happiness.

This is an excellent lead in to what is becoming my theme of the past week -  Gaga’s Born This Way.

I'd love to hear what you think of the video & her antics in general!

And since y'all loved my Gaga picture post so much the other day, here is a slideshow of the entire concert!!!

Hope you enjoy :)

Oh 80s, How I Love You

I love the 80s. Everything about them. It has bred the majority of my favourite music and movies, not to mention some great TV shows.

There's something about listening to that music and watching those movies that gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling. A feeling that nothing else gives me. I don't really think anyone gets it. But i'm so OK with that.

This warm and fuzzy feeling is usually accompanied by tears, but i wouldn't have it any other way! I'm an emotional gal, whattaya want?! :)

Of course I can't not give you some of my top faves, in no particular order:
- Dirty Dancing <3 [and soundtrack]
- Classic Bon Jovi
- Sixteen Candles
- The Breakfast Club
- Baywatch
- the Tom Cruise we all actually liked
- Overboard
- When Harry Met Sally
- so many random songs it'd make your head spin

I will leave you with one of the songs i LOVE & a classic 80s movie i hadn't seen until tonight which inspired this post...

Celeb Parents aren't REAL Parents

I'm kind of torn about whether or not i even want to share the following with you lovely people. I'm not even sure what the right word(s) is(are) to describe my thoughts on this.

I'll just get down to it. Watch this video - i completely understand if you can't get through it entirely, i will not blame you.

W.T.F. That is a 5 year old singing. Well Wikipedia says 10. I frankly don't give a shit. This is goddamn ridiculous.

FIRST of all, where the fuck do i start? Aside from this is just making me swear a lot. MAYBE i wouldn't be so put out if she was singing about lollipops or something. K, SCRATCH THAT! Lest we forget Lil Wayne's "Lollipop" from a few years ago.

5 10yr olds should not have record deals and videos. Call me old-fashioned. Very few child stars make it out alive. Why would you put your kid through that?

Second of all...i actually listened to the lyrics.

I'ma get more shine than a little bit
Soon as i hit the stage applause im hearing it
whether its black stars black cars im feeling it
but can't none of them whip it like i do
I, i gets it in mmmm yea i go hard
when they see me pull up i whip it real hard
i whip it real hard, real hard,i whip it real hard

Wow. I'd probably cringe a little bit even if it was an adult singing it. But it's not. She's 5 10.

Thirdly, just because the video is set in an elementary school does not make this ok. In fact, this means other children are subjected to it - but mostly, other children's parents think this is normal!!!! For the record, it's not.

And fourthly...let's get down to who "she" is. Willow Smith. Ya, Will Smith is her daddy. I may heart the crap outta the guy but i am SUPER disappointed right now. I had more faith in you than making both of your children into child stars. At least Jaden is acting in child-like roles [I haven't actually seen The Karate Kid though]. Seriously. You should know better. Now i resent you - is this what you wanted?! Don't answer that.

This is pretty good backup as to why i friging hate the youth of today. *sigh*
