Nail Files 11.14 - B&W Jolly Jewels

Linking up with my girl Jennie for...

Here's one more of my awesome Golden Rose nail polishes! I didn't use any
polish underneath and went with only the fancy sparkles.
Thoughts?

This the polish I used:
Golden Rose Jolly Jewels #118
I can't wait to use my other polishes from this line! Especially the Christmas ones!

Nail Files 10.03 - Purple Carnival

I would love to post our vacation pictures, but our internet has been the WORST this week and I haven't been able to upload anything! Working on it though!

Therefore, I'm linking up with my girl Jennie for...

I picked up a couple of amazing glitter polishes on vacation, by Golden Rose, and from the first use I've totally fallen in love. The other nails have a Sally Hansen buff polish on them.
Excuse the background - work has better lighting than my house LOL

The polish:
Carnival #11

They have 26 'shades' of the Carnival line and I'm totally going to ask my mom to pick me up some more. Because of course, they sell them absolutely everywhere except for in Canada. Did I mention they cost less than $3CAD? Exactly.

Which ones catch your eye?

Have a great weekend peeps!

Influenster imPRESS VoxBox

I'm sure most of you have heard of Influnster but if you haven't, it's basically a social community for reviewing products and experiences. By reviewing things on their site, you occasionally qualify to receive samples in exchange for reviews. They call this sample mail-out a VoxBox.

I recently received the imPRESS VoxBox with these two bold press-on manicure sets:

While I haven't put these specific ones on yet as the occasion has not arisen, I previously used the ones below and will be using that experience to review!

I used to do my own glue-on manicure in university quite frequently, but hadn't really tried it since then. What I remember most about previous self-applications is a lot of glue. A lot. Everywhere. And always carrying some spare glue with me.

Well, no more glue! These nails are covered with a sticky film on the back already. Once you match up your nail sizes, you just peel off the film, stick it on. Don't forget to press & hold too! It.was.so.easy!

They come in 12 different sizes (2 of each = 24 nails) so I even matched them up so that I'd have enough for two applications. BAM - 2 manis for the price of 1!

This is actually from Day 2

I found that these easily stayed on for about 5 days and I pushed through for a full week. By about the 4th or 5th day, one of the nails was loosening and shifting. I noticed this mainly happened after getting my hands wet. Not surprisingly so.

I did my best to dry them and then hold down the nail for a few minutes so it would re-stick to my fingernail. It worked for a couple of days which isn't bad.

Notice the tips are a bit rubbed off. I wasn't concerned because that happens to my manicures regardless

I finally took them off after a week. It was super easy - I just peeled them right off. A couple bent and broke a bit but it was no big deal.

Аlso, my nails weren't damaged at all, unlike when I use to have to use the nail glue. Below is a picture taken right after I removed the nails, before I did absolutely anything else.

Here are the things I liked:
  - They were super easy to apply! Once you've made note of the correct sizes, future applications will take 5 minutes, tops!
  - They looked great and I could never create such an intricate design on my own.
  - They stayed on quite well until that one nail on the 5th day.
  - They were super easy to remove and my nails weren't damaged.

Here are the things I didn't like so much:
  - Besides the french tips, I don't find there are any I'd wear on a regular basis.
  - The sticky film is not as adhesive as the regular glue, therefore nails will start coming off faster.

While they're not for everyone, I think this is a great option to switch it up from nail polish and much faster! Running out the door in 10 minutes and need a perfect mani? You're set!

They're obviously not for everyone though. How they look really depends on the shape of your nails and how long they stay on depends on what you do with your hands on a regular basis.

That's really it - I think the press-on nails are great! Have you tried these nails? Any fake nails? Would you?

Nail Files - 5.02

Linking up with my girl Jennie for...

I'm tired of waiting for real spring to arrive so I painted my nails in spring colours anyway. Such a rebel.

Can't wait for more spring colours and then...dare I say it...summer colours!

Happy Weekend!

Nail Files - 1.24

Linking up with my girl Jennie for...

Today I'm reviewing these puppies:

I received this press-on manicure in my first Influenster Maple Vox Box last month. I used to do my own glue-on manicure in university quite frequently, although I always opted for the french mani. The shape of my nailsbeds and fingers make easy for me to pull this off without them seeming obviously fake so I was totally open to giving these a try, even though pattern was bolder than what I'm used to.

What I remember from previous self-applications is a lot of glue. A lot. Well, no more of that! These nails are pre-stickied (such a technical term) and covered with a clear film. Once you match up your nail sizes (12 different sizes, 2 of each = 24 nails), you just peel off the film, stick it on. Don't forget to press & hold too!

It.was.so.easy! I love it!

I even matched the nail sizes so that I'd have enough for two applications (with four nails left over) so BAM - 2 manis in 1!

I totally recommend these if you're looking to cover up your real nails for a bit (mine were breaking & chipping constantly so they needed a break & I needed something nice to look at) or just a fun mani without the effort (especially if you don't have to skills - like me).

This is from Day 2
I hope Target Canada is still having a clearance sale on their nail stuff and I can pick up some more designs for cheap!!!

Nail Files - 10.4

Linking up with my girl Jennie for...

I'm actually very excited about this week's post! Our lovely host Jennie let me in on a little secret called www.nailpolishcanada.com! I ordered a couple items at the end of last week and received them on Monday!

I finally found the PERFECT nude colour:

And amazing discovery #2, thanks to my cousin & Jennie again...Seche Vite top coat! That's why I was able to take this great pic of my nails THREE DAYS after I applied it. For me, that's amazing because usually only looks like that for the first THREE HOURS after application.

Happy Friday!

Vacation nails!!! In honour of this summery vaca to California, I used bright colours on my fingers and toes. That's right, double show today!

These are the colours I used
Coral Reef, Sunkissed, Twisted Pink

Sunkissed accented with Twisted Pink

Coral Reef

Then I decided these nails needed something to make them POP!
Strobe Light accents

Anyone else trying to hold onto summer with bright nail polish shades?!

Nail Files! - 5.03

I'm linking up with Tara & Vicki for...

I know I haven't linked up in a while & that's because I really haven't painted my nails in a while. Not only have I been busy, but they have been chipping & cracking like crazy so I've just been trimming them and treating them with hardener. If anyone has some magical suggestions, I'm all ears!

But I've been dying to use this colour and with [my Orthodox] Easter being this weekend, I knew I had to finally put on this truly spring colour :)
Doesn't hurt that it's my favourite Tiffany blue ;)

Mintilicious by Rimmel

I l.o.v.e. Rimmel nail polish. The brush is just so perfect that it always makes for an easy application!

Nail Files - 01.25

I'm linking up with Tara & Vicki for...

Last weekend when my cousin was visiting, we spent Saturday night watching movies & painting our nails.

Here's the end result:

I love love LOVE the gold & black combo and was very happy with the Maybelline nail polish, which I had never used before.

Next I'd like to tackle polka dots but I'm still afraid...
