4th Bloggy Birthday

I can't believe that four years ago today, I sat here and wrote my first post.

I still remember all of my thoughts and feelings leading up to starting the blog and that very first post. Mainly, excitement. I wanted to start a new chapter in life, for various reasons, and I wanted it documented. Well, I'm so glad that I did that! One of my favourite things to do is read old posts and re-live whatever was happening.

I did a good job of that for the first couple of years...but then something changed. I started prioritizing living over documenting life. I feel good and bad about that but for me, it has always come down to time and there's just not enough of it. I would have to quit my job for this blog to be what I want it to be and I'm totally down for that, but Mike says it won't pay the mortgage haha

But I've also decided that I don't want to quit the blog yet and am working on making it work! Not rid of me just yet ;)

So here's to the last 4 years and to [at least] several more! :)

two years happy.

We've officially made it past our 2 year anniversary! I'm kidding, obviously we were going to.

Gift giving was an unspoken 'yes' because I knew that even if I tried to enforce a 'no gifts' rule, dC would still go ahead with his own plans. It seemed pointless.

Glad I didn't fight it because I'm so excited about what I got:

It's a Fuji Instax Mini 8 - who knew polaroid-type cameras still existed! It's super cool & I'm so excited to use it! I just need to remember that I only have one chance at taking a good picture, unlike what I'm used to. Haha!

Naturally we went for dinner - I don't know why it took us as long as it did to make a decision but we finally went to this Brazilian steakhouse we'd been dying to try.

If you love meat and have never been I urge you to go to one right.now. Similarly, it's a vegetarian/vegan's hell so might want to stay away if that's the case.

The premise is that there is a buffet for salads & apps, and servers come to your table with skewers of meat. Until you feel like you're going burst, because it's all you can eat meat (and salads).

I was too busy with my steaks and filet mignon to take my own pictures of dinner, but I think this is all you need. At your table. #omnomnom

Full or not, we still came home for our champagne & slice of cake...

Happy 2 years to us :)
Anniversary morning & anniversary evening...both sleepy haha :)
[with the new Instax of course!]

two years strong.

I can't believe how fast time has flown by, how much has happened and where we were two short, long (that's not a typo) years ago.

All I'm sure of is that there's no better partner for the roller coaster of ups & downs that we've experienced & the ride ain't over yet!

3rd Bloggy Anniversary!

Wow.

Three years.

Seems like yesterday.

Or just...not three whole years ago.

When I look back, this blog has been so much.

Not always the same. But always one thing. Really me.

I love it and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

My first post was half me and half an amazing [long] quote that I still identify with.

Because that's what life is - confusing as fuck. Why not share it with people who you identify with?

That's what this blog has always been about and will continue to be about. In one for or another. So stay tuned!

Two Years as a City Girl

As I sit here, I actually cannot believe that two whole years have passed since the day that I moved to Toronto. Two full sets of seasons. Wow.

That means two years since the awful packing & the crazy moving weekend, that coincided with Halloween partying.

Unsurprisingly for me, I'm still putting the finishing touches on the apartment. Since I moved out of my room in my parents house and had to buy all my furniture, I focused on the important things first and the decor second. I've slowly built up some more furnishings - an extra dresser (because apparently I've been able to afford lots of shopping), a bookcase and a new TV.

I'm still working on the wall art though - I just put up another picture today actually. I have lots of picture frames to fill though. The hardest part is figuring out what pictures to fill them with. #firstworldproblems

I definitely still L.O.V.E. my apartment and feel extremely lucky to have found it, minus the rent increase that's happening this week *whomp whomp* It still speaks to me and small kitchen aside, is perfect for my needs. It is definitely where I feel most comfortable. Even after a weekend of visiting my family in the house I grew up in, I cannot wait to get back to my apartment. My things are here, my life is here.

But I've definitely thought about moving. A little bit bitter sweet, but life is changing and things need to change with it. So as much as I love this place and this neighbourhood, if things go as I'd like them to, there may not be a third anniversary. However I'm not going to get too ahead of myself here...

So today I will take in everything with the same excitement and unjadedness that I did two years ago when I spread my wings in this city and everything else -like the fact that it's Monday - can take a back seat.
