Cousin Love

After the CNE fun on Friday, my cousin came to visit for the weekend!

We hadn't seen each other since January so it was an amazing reunion!

As soon as she got here, we went off to lunch so she could try Poutine! Of course we also had some Sangria because it was gorgeous outside & we totally wanted to take advantage of the end of summer!

@ Jack Astor's
We also took a trip to IKEA which there are no pictures of because I totally have my hands full while I'm there! Didn't make too big of a dent in my wallet this time around though ;)

That night, we went to a club downtown which I hadn't done in far too long! A blast was had by all :)

Sunday morning, Vik & I hit up Sugar Beach for more summer enjoyment & the weather could not have been more spectacular!!!

Beach babes!

Post-beach, we tried out a new hotspot restaurant at the harbourfront - Amsterdam Brewhouse - and managed to snag seats on the patio facing the lake! It was super windy and we had to hold down the items on our table, but still a great spot.
Beer flights, burgers & love!
I hardly ever go to Toronto's harbourfront, mainly because it's so annoying to get there - expensive parking & inconvenient transit. But hopefully it'll be even nicer after all of the construction so that we can get more shots with yachts that aren't ours [yet!]

Monday was mostly relax time before Vik had to leave & so ended Summer 2013...

How did you see off the summer this past Labour/Labor Day Weekend?!

Frosty Reunion Weekend

Last weekend I had a special visitor - my cousin Viktoriya! Best friend. Better half. The Cristina to my Meredith. Or am I Cristina? Either way, you get it.

Friday
She got in just in time for dinner and the three of us headed off to meet up with some friends at the Biermarkt. Great place in terms of concept and offerings if you're a beer connoisseur but the most God awful service I have ever experienced, at every location I've ever been to. It had been a long day week so I went straight for the double vodka sodas #TGIF

Saturday
We opted to skip breakfast in order to try a popular burger place I've been hearing about - Burger Priest. Ah-may-zing. Of all the specialty burger places I've tried recently, they are definitely in the top. The fact that the fries are to die for also helped.

Mike had their signature "The Priest"...that's cheesy portebello mushrooms in that breading
Even their decor was interesting! It's a super tight space though so it's unlikely you'll find seating to dig in right on the spot; we got lucky though and chowed down!

We may or may not have also topped that off with ice cream sandwiches made with their homemade cookies. Which were all devoured before any pictures were taken.

The rest of Saturday was pretty low-key. After watching The Grey, we decided that going outside was out of the question so girls night with movies & nails it was :)

Sunday
The delicious pancake breakfast led to a TLC/A&E/HGTV/Food Network marathon of epic proportions. Putting my cable upgrade to good use! Plus, it was still -15C outside so no one wanted to be exposed to that.

The Good

Bulgarian Restaurant on the Food Network!

The Bad

I don't even really like House Hunters but this was the lamest couple in the worst location. Everything was just awful. "But we need to see if it's good for Danger!" Umm, he's a dog.

The Ugly
We were exposed to this atrocity while watching our first-ever episode of Toddlers & Tiaras. Never again.

So yeah, we had an epic weekend of R&R. Too bad we live in different countries or this would be every weekend day. *sigh*

Weekend Love

The weekend was as awesome as expected, and then some. That's always the case when this lovely lady comes to visit!

Our time was filled with dinner & drinks, and then some more dinner & drinks, and of course a lot of laughs & all around good times. Couldn't ask for more.

Needless to say, we made some time for shopping because you can't have girl time without shopping! I managed to control myself and only picked up these key needs:

Cute & on sale!
[ALDO]
Perfect summer tank that will match both my navy & coral skinnies! So pumped!
[H&M]
Scarves! Instead of buying new clothes, I want to accessorize more & these were so cute!
[H&M, Joe Fresh, H&M]
Despite my awesome steals, what made the weekend perfect was spending it with my 2 most favourite people in the world...

Love you both! :)

Spring Weekend

I know it's already Thursday & the next weekend is coming up but I had such a fantastic last weekend that I can't not tell y'all about it!

- went to see Safe House
{via}

- spent way too much money at the mall in less than an hour

- bought the most amazing lip balm of life (stay tuned)

- took some fun #teamdcdk pics
I think we know who the cute one is...
- completely re-organized both of my closets in the spirit of Spring cleaning!

- went for a walk in the city & discovered Menchies!

- wore my new coral jeans for Spring!
I actually cannot get enough of this outfit!
[also holding my almost-devoured Menchie froyo]
- enjoyed the first pint-on-a-patio of the season!

- went for a walk on the Beaches for the first time since I've moved to the city!
Instagram'd by dC :)

Not gonna lie, this week hasn't been too shabby & needless to say, cannot wait until next weekend!
T-2 days!

Foto Friday

This week there was no time to read books, no time to paint my nails...In fact, this tweet from last night says it all really:
Follow me on twitter
Which is why the only thing I'm looking forward to is this in 10 short long hours:

A lot of giant martinis is the only comfort.

Happy Weekend!

Beer Goggle Romance & Triple Axels

This past weekend marked one year since dC & I met over a couple of team pitchers with a mutual friend. We've thanked said mutual friend many times since then. It didn't mark the beginning of anything more than associating the name with a face, and a cool personality, but we were pretty buzzed HAHA But no seriously, how not fun would it be if everything happened all at once? That's what I thought.

On Saturday we hit up the Harbourfront Centre outdoor skating rink (on the edge of the lake) for their DJ night and it was really awesome! Unfortunately, it's their last weekend doing it this winter but I can't wait until next year! By then I'll be a pro skater anyway...

Free hot chocolate!

A view of the CN Tower!

And a lot of goofy picture attempts!
The cute one

The funny one

The love one :)
We obviously finished the night off by grabbing a couple drinks at a bar. It was only fitting. Looking forward to the rest of our 'firsts' anniversaries that are coming up :)
