Book Club - Allegiant

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Notice how the ratings of this book series progressively decrease? Yeah I wasn't so impressed by the end of it. At the same time, I couldn't just stop reading the series. I'm a girl who finishes what she starts.

Why did I hate it?  Hate is a strong word. More like, disliked greatly. I was frustrated with where the author took the concept and I think she had other options. Plus, (view spoiler). As much as I'd grown to like the characters in the first half, I was ultra sick of them by the last half.

I probably make it sound worse than it is because again, you can't not read the last book of the trilogy; just don't expect greatness like in the beginning.

I totally want to have a more detailed discussion on the trilogy with anyone who's read them & is interested :)

Book Club - Insurgent

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What surprised me with this book is the fact that picked up pretty much immediately after Divergent ended. I was glad the author didn't skip a large chunks of time and make us wonder what had happened in between while slowlyyyy revealing bits and pieces. Or just not bothering to tell us anything at all and pretending nothing happened. Been there, read that.

I really enjoyed this sequel and what it did for the growth of the characters. Plus, the author totally kept me on my toes (and fingertips) as to what was going to happen next. There was one thing that was really bothering me by the end though...the relationship between the main characters. I don't want to spoil much but the vicious circle of 'I love you-I'm lying to you-OK I'll never do it again' was wearing my patience thin by the end.

Despite that, it was still a page turner and the ending of this book had me picking up the next one right away!

Book Club - Divergent

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book definitely lived up to my expectations after hearing about it for so long. The best, and maybe worst, way to describe it is a Hunger Games-esque YA thriller. Post-revolution, segregated society which is dependent on its youth to break free. But it also had a totally different vibe to it than HG...
It was a total page turner and I was especially eager to read it quick because I couldn't wait to see the movie. My only disappointment was that I didn't feel a crazy connection with any of the characters but I figured that would build in the next novel...
