Koko Love

As promised, here are some of Koko's shenanigans & cuteness!

I hide in mummy's sheets in the morning

And then we have cuddle time

For breakfast we share cereal..yummz

And then I watch mummy shower
*Partially true - Koko usually hangs out between the two shower curtains while I shower, unless he gets really bored

While mummy works, it's time for my napz
*This is Koko being respectful of my workspace; usually he's laying across the keyboard

Christmas was my favourite b/c I had lots of gift bags to play & hide in

There I am! Just hangin' out...

After playing it's time for napz again; I like to sprawl out as much as possible

Sometimes I just watch mummy like a little creeper...

...Other times I watch mummy from her bedroom door when she's going to sleep like a BIG creeper...

When I'm thirsty I like to drink right from the tap

Unless mummy's glass is accessible...

And then I plank on the coffee table 'cause I'm cute!

No, you didn't misread the title. It says Koko, not Coco. Why the name change? Because of the sex change.

By which I mean, I'm the worst fur mommy ever because for two months I thought my cat was a girl and he's a boy...and I just don't understand why he didn't speak up!

But seriously, I felt awful when I made the discovery. If I was a good fur mommy, I would have already taken him to the vet but A) life's been busy, B) he lives strictly indoors and C) I'm a little bit old school when it comes to things like that. I'm also not a vet and he was like 8 weeks old so hard to tell when we first got him.

This is also the reason why you haven't seen the "I love Coco" post; I needed time to absorb this and finish being upset before I could talk about it.

I decided not to change the name entirely because I like it and I didn't want to confuse him, but the 'C' needed to go since it was so feminine. So now I have a fluffy baby boy kitty named Koko!

Stay tuned for a slew of pictures of Koko's shenanigans but here's one to tide you over...

I stick my tongue out at mummy when I'm feeling silly

Half a Dozen Yum

Half a dozen cupcakes that is. With all the busy-ness of errands and the like this past weekend - although don't ask me what I actually accomplished - going to Cupcakes Canada was most definitely the highlight!

We only ordered six because we knew we would eat the whole box regardless of the quantity and six each just seemed a little bit too much. Now that I'm craving them, I wish we bought a whole lot more but I digress...

Here's what we picked up:

My 3 choices: Cookies N Cream, Chocolate Celebration & Coconut Dream [which I enjoyed for breakfast]

dC only has pictures of two because he decided to eat his last one while I was sleeping! Very very sneaky.

This was actually my first foray into 'gourmet' cupcakes and you better believe I'll be going back for more and testing out different cupcake shops!

Happy [as can be] Monday!

Nail Files - 01.25

I'm linking up with Tara & Vicki for...

Last weekend when my cousin was visiting, we spent Saturday night watching movies & painting our nails.

Here's the end result:

I love love LOVE the gold & black combo and was very happy with the Maybelline nail polish, which I had never used before.

Next I'd like to tackle polka dots but I'm still afraid...

Frosty Reunion Weekend

Last weekend I had a special visitor - my cousin Viktoriya! Best friend. Better half. The Cristina to my Meredith. Or am I Cristina? Either way, you get it.

She got in just in time for dinner and the three of us headed off to meet up with some friends at the Biermarkt. Great place in terms of concept and offerings if you're a beer connoisseur but the most God awful service I have ever experienced, at every location I've ever been to. It had been a long day week so I went straight for the double vodka sodas #TGIF

We opted to skip breakfast in order to try a popular burger place I've been hearing about - Burger Priest. Ah-may-zing. Of all the specialty burger places I've tried recently, they are definitely in the top. The fact that the fries are to die for also helped.

Mike had their signature "The Priest"...that's cheesy portebello mushrooms in that breading
Even their decor was interesting! It's a super tight space though so it's unlikely you'll find seating to dig in right on the spot; we got lucky though and chowed down!

We may or may not have also topped that off with ice cream sandwiches made with their homemade cookies. Which were all devoured before any pictures were taken.

The rest of Saturday was pretty low-key. After watching The Grey, we decided that going outside was out of the question so girls night with movies & nails it was :)

The delicious pancake breakfast led to a TLC/A&E/HGTV/Food Network marathon of epic proportions. Putting my cable upgrade to good use! Plus, it was still -15C outside so no one wanted to be exposed to that.

The Good

Bulgarian Restaurant on the Food Network!

The Bad

I don't even really like House Hunters but this was the lamest couple in the worst location. Everything was just awful. "But we need to see if it's good for Danger!" Umm, he's a dog.

The Ugly
We were exposed to this atrocity while watching our first-ever episode of Toddlers & Tiaras. Never again.
So yeah, we had an epic weekend of R&R. Too bad we live in different countries or this would be every weekend day. *sigh*

Book Club Friday - 01.18

It's time for Book Club with Heather!

This week I'm reviewing:

All New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has to do is bring in semi-retired bail jumper Eddie DeChooch. For an old man he's still got a knack for slipping out of sight--and raising hell. How else can Stephanie explain the bullet-riddled corpse in Eddie's garden? Who else would have a clue as to why two of Stephanie's friends suddenly vanished? For answers Stephanie has the devil to pay: her mentor, Ranger. The deal? He'll give Stephanie all the help she needs--if she gives him everything he wants...

As if things weren't complicated enough, Stephanie's just discovered her Grandma Mazur's own unmentionable alliance with Eddie. Add a series of unnerving break-ins, not to mention the bombshell revelation leveled by Stephanie's estranged sister, and Stephanie's ready for some good news. Unfortunately, a marriage proposal from Joe Morelli, the love of her life, isn't quite cutting it. And now--murder, a randy paramour, a wily mobster, death threats, extortion, and a triple kidnapping aside--Stephanie's really got the urge to run for her life...

I definitely enjoyed this book and it had a lot of twists to keep me reading but I did start getting frustrated with Stephanie a little bit. How hard could it be to catch an old man?! Start carrying around that gun of yours missy!
But I was definitely excited about a couple of things in this book: the introduction of Valerie [because she's bound to make for some interesting storylines] and most importantly, Ranger's super hot offer. At this point, I don't know who has daydreamed of Ranger more - me or Stephanie...

Weekend Unchained

Yes, I'm a little late on the weekend update seeing as it's Thursday but it's been quite the busy week around here!

Our plans to go to the movies were foiled because apparently they think it's appropriate to schedule movies at 7pm on a Friday night and then not again until 10:45pm. Fine. So we went to our favourite Asian Fusion AYCE (all you can eat) restaurant and did what we do best - pigged out. Meaning we were too busy digging in to take pictures of food, except for dessert.

Yummy green tea ice cream

Someone was lame this past weekend and told their boss they would do actual work on the weekend so I took advantage and cleaned in the meantime. The weather was gorgeous so when we finally went out, we went walking downtown, had a delicious middle eastern dinner at Paramount (favourite!) and I may have bought two CDs. That's right, CDs. Classic loves of mine though.

And then we finally finally watched Django Unchained!! Wow, amazing. But only if you like Tarantino movies. I went into this one the same way I went into Inglorious Basterds - optimistic but no real expectations. And then I was blown away! Go see it.

Someone decided to do more work so I decided it was a good excuse to sit just around and relax. Then do groceries and make a delicious chicken and potatoes dinner. Finished off the night with the Golden Globes which you can get read the tweet-cap of here!

As per my 2013 goal, I had at least one awesome thing to journal about everyday - sushi, Django, Golden Globes - so I call that a successful weekend!

This weekend should be even more exciting because, barring any crazy weather, I'm having an awesome visitor!

Who's seen Django Unchained & what did you think?

Influence This

So yesterday I finally signed up for influenster. I can't even tell you why except that I have heard so much about it from fellow bloggers that I was just plain intrigued. I guess that's the point of influenster anyway - explore new things, talk about them...touche.

So far I've got no points but did manage to unlock some of the badges. Here's to many more hours spent on the internet trying to feel like I matter in this big world wide web. Good thing it's winter...If you want to join me, let me know and I will send you an invite :)

Are you an 'influenster'? What do you like about it?

Golden Globes 2013 Tweet-Cap

Amy Poehler's joke about Kathryn Bigelow & James Cameron was just amazing.

But Michael J. Fox's son was super cute; like a young Marty :)

How many people are actually going to get this?

Spoiler alert: It didn't win.

Again, spoiler alert: It didn't win.

Spoiler alert: They didn't go home empty-handed unfortunately.

Yeah, see above tweet.

And let the backlash of Ben's Oscar snub start all over again...

Who else watched? What did you think?!

Book Club Friday - 01.11

It's time for Book Club with Heather!

This week I'm reviewing:

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum and Trenton vice cop Joe Morelli join forces to find the madman killer who shot and barbecued the youngest son of international black-market arms dealer Alexander Ramos.
Carlos Manoso, street name Ranger, is caught on video just minutes before the crime occurs. He's at the scene, he's with the victim, and he's the number-one suspect. Ranger is former special forces turned soldier of fortune. He has a blue-chip stock portfolio and no known address. He moves in mysterious circles. He's Stephanie's mentor--the man who taught her everything she knows about fugitive apprehension. And he's more than her friend.
Now he's the hunted and Stephanie's the hunter, and it's time for her to test her skills against the master. But if she does catch him...what then? Can she bring herself to turn him in?
Plus there are other things keeping Stephanie awake at night. Her maternal grandmother has set up housekeeping in Stephanie's apartment, a homicidal maniac has selected Stephanie as his next victim, her love life is in the toilet, she's adopted a dog with an eating disorder, and she can't button the top snap on her Levi's.

This is the book that had me contemplating whether I was #TeamMorelli or #TeamRanger. Which is obviously very important. I liked the twist of Ranger being the one that's chased & Grandma Mazur moving in was just the comic relief this needed.
Another good one & my reco to forge ahead with this series!
