Emmy Buzzzzz

Disclaimer: This blog will consist of a whole lot of random thoughts that came to me in the 3hrs that the Emmys were on. Actually, i stopped paying attention after the first 2hrs. You get it - random blabber.

1) Modern Family has 3 of 5 nominees for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy? I thought we lived in a democracy...Needless to say 1 of them won. I don't even watch that show.

2) I love Tina Fey, she's just spectacular!

3) Glee coach won for her Supporting Actress in a Comedy...wait did she just thank her wife?

4) Loved the Modern Family/George Clooney bit! George is such an easy-going, funny guy :)

5) Eva Longoria-Parker is just the cutest! Can't wait for Desperate Housewives to come back! Yeeeea!

6) I love watching commercials for new Falls shows, even though I don't really intend on watching any of them. Mmmm Donny Wahlberg + crime + NYC. Ok, maybe that one i'll watch.

7) WHY may i ask is Californication (aka the best show ever) not making an appearance at these Emmys?! Rigged.

8) I'll never be able to explain the feeling that the Grey's "ringing theme" gives me. I lied. Goosebumps. And sometimes tears.

9) Ugh wow there is some seriously weird reality tv. But Kim Kardashian seems pretty cool. We could be acquaintances.

10) I wanna watch The Town!!! Who's in!?

11) I think ppl on TV should start slapping for real. Enough of these soundeffects. Every job has its risks! LOL

12) LOST...what a great tribute
13) Bahahahaha yeah, 4 toes = way less weird than 6 toes. The LOST writers are hilarious.

14) Rogers has a Free Handset Protection Program? Nothing at Rogers is ever "free". Trust me.

15) Breaking Bad is 2 for 2! I've enjoyed what little i've seen of that show, but still feels wrong to actually watch it. It belongs to Rockstar.

16) "George Clooney in 17 minutes." K guys, no one touches the remote!

17) Wow so many non-cable TV shows are nominated. Most of us don't have Showcase & HBO!

18) Academy Awards are nominated for an Emmy?!

"...And the Emmy goes toooooo...The Tony Awards!" It's a sad day when award shows award other award shows. *SMH*

19) "Mel Gibson has been through a lot. Well...not as much as the Jews." LMAO Oh Ricky Gervais

20) Can't believe Jimmy Fallon hgas time to tweet while being such an awesome Emmy host!!!

21) SYTYCD: Canada commercial = hawt hawt hawt!

22) Even though i haven't been paying attention for the last hour, Modern Family received all too many nominations and wins this year.

Another award show come and gone. Another best/worst dressed list to scan.

Grandma Police!

It's Friday night. Not that i don't love blogging, but c'mon - it's Friday night! I digress...

Have i mentioned that it has now been 49 days since i twisted/sprained/injured my ankle and it still hurts?! Not like disabled-parking-privilege hurts or even limping-hurts, but when i point my toes and stretch it, it's hurty. Needless to say, i can't wear high heels. And this is seriously impeding on my fashion. That's my way of taking this slightly more humourously. Deep down inside though, the hypochondriac in me is semi-visualizing being told that due to my carelessness, they will have to amputate.
Ugh no, ok i'm done. :(

On a happier note - the sis & i watched Killers td, while waiting for her newly-painted room to dry. And it was definitely wayyyy better than watching paint dry. Ashton Kutcher has always been a good looking guy but i can't really say i've cared or noticed all that much. Well, today i noticed. I could barely keep my eyes in their sockets, and don't get me started on the drool. I may even have missed important plot pieces b/c he was just that breathtaking. Katherine Heigl's character after their first kiss says "Umm ugh ya...I can't breathe." Ya i bet you couldn't. I wonder if Demi has any idea how lucky she is? And quite frankly, idk how the Willis daughters are able to deal. :P

And so, this grandma is heading off to bed...later than anticipated! HeeHee

PS: Any formally/informally trained/untrained medical/non-medical persons - feel free to share advice on this ankle situation!!!

Time to 'switch' it up!

Well what can i say about 'The Switch'?  Jenn Anniston + Jason Bateman in a BFFs-turned-TrueLove scenerio = my kinda rom-com!

Except shit like that always makes me reflect on my own life [please recall one of the first posts where i tell you how increda-good i am at linking random crap to myself]. And i'm not a big fan of reflecting on my own life right now. Love life aside, you know what i don't want? Making a wrong turn when driving home and needing to do a 3-point-turn in a random driveway, only to realize that it's my highschool boyfriend's driveway! Or running into my grade 7 boyfriend at Shoppers Drug Mart! Ok, that right there sounds like a had a lot of boyfriends, but i didn't. Those were the only two. Really.

But this is exactly why i need to leeeeeeeeeave this place! I want to be somewhere where no one knows me, or anything about me and my past. I want to work in a thousand-story skyscraper where i know 4% of the employees, and getting in the elevator consists of courteous nods. No fake smiles, no fake-interested questions about my weekend.

Obviously, I need to write more cover letters.

Top 2 on my list of Scums

"I've never been so scared in life" - retard protester on the news, who wants the cops that assaulted her to be criminally charged. Right - stupid bitch. On top of that, she had purple hair! Who let you use my colour, bitch?? I may hate hate cops, but i also hate hate protesters - equally. No one listens to you anyway, so QUIT getting in the way. I say we send both to a different planet. Together. There they can protest and be violent to their hearts' content. Scum.

Kat, i wanta kitty kat!

Lately i just super want a kitty! I went to the pet store the other day to by my sister's chinchilla (Dusty) food, and there were 5 kittens! I pet them :) Then i went home and meowed to my mom about how i want a cat. And tonight i got to play with Shauna's large kitten...awesoooome! I know most ppl usually long for dogs, but not i. They're such a handful! I may as well have a child. At least it's easier to find a babysitter. Plus, dogs are so people-loving, all jumpy and tail-waggy with strangers. Cats are pretty much only in love with their owners (if that), aka me. Can you tell i have abandonment issues? LOL

Its a good thing i'm trying to move out - much higher chance of me owning a cat. Still unrealistic though b/c my lifestyle doesn't really permit it. I love taking off to travel, etc WAY too much! But honestly, the more i think about it, the more feasible it is. My rents would neverrrr dogsit - not after our horrific experience of the month-long dogsitting 2 years ago *glare* - but my mommy likes cats, i'm sure it'd be fiiiiiiine. And i won't really be taking off as much on weekends if i do move out. But the shedding!!! We know how much i like unnecessary cleaning :|  Hmm, well i'll def have to ponder this further...

I loveyyyyyyy this kittyyyyyy! It's so fluffyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!

Reflecting on the Evening News

Here's what was on the news tonight. In case you're wondering, I only watch Global News.

1. Rob Ford's Mayorial Candidacy Roadbumps

So what if he got arrested in FLORIDA (please note, another country) over 10 years ago (please note, another millenium)?!?!?! Where's the proof that he can't run a city now? Especially if it's starting with great ideas like closing Toronto's doors to immigrants. Don't confuse this with racism or bigotry - i'm an immigrant! And damn proud of it! :) But after years and years of the majority of new immigrants heading straight for Toronto - it's about to tear at the seams. So why don't we encourage some movement within the country? Stop with all this 'Golden Horseshoe' population concentration, it's also not helping the massive traffic jams. In reality though Rob, highly unlikely.

2. Gov't regulations re: cigarettes
Hiding cigarettes in the stores doesn't make them non-existent. Do you see any other countries hiding them? Including Western European and the US? Didn't think so. It's useless. Props to the grandpa in Nova Scotia who stood up to Canada and proudly displayed his cigarette products. And most importantly - hiding them prevents me from seeing the full selection so i can pick! Geez!

3. Ashley Kirilow a.k.a. Douche that faked cancer to collect donations
Really? People tell me i can be not-so-nice, but this girl takes the cake for pure evil! HOW does that even come to you as an idea?! Ridiculous! And some stranger is 'finally' going to post her bail? Ya, i bet embarrassed isn't all her family is. Filing for formal disownment is more like it.

4. Bull fighting gone wrong in Northern Spain
O.M.G. This video must be seen! Maybe it is time for the Spaniards to ban bull fighting?

And that is all. Time for BG tv! Maybe even some BG news ;)

Procrastination, and time, will kill ya

"A couple of hundred years ago, Benjamin Franklin shared with the world the secret of his success. Never leave that till tomorrow, he said, which you can do today. This is the man who discovered electricity. You think more people would listen to what he had to say. I don't know why we put things off, but if I had to guess, I'd have to say it has a lot to do with fear. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, sometimes the fear is just of making a decision, because what if you're wrong? What if you're making a mistake you can't undo? The early bird catches the worm. A stitch in time saves nine. He who hesitates is lost.
We can't pretend we hadn't been told. We've all heard the proverbs, heard the philosophers, heard our grandparents warning us about wasted time, heard the damn poets urging us to seize the day. Still sometimes we have to see for ourselves. We have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn our own lessons. We have to sweep today's possibility under tomorrow's rug until we can't anymore. Until we finally understand for ourselves what Benjamin Franklin really meant. That knowing is better than wondering, that waking is better than sleeping, and even the biggest failure, even the worst, beat the hell out of never trying."

 - A 16-year-old may have written this, or she stole it from somewhere. Either way, I stole it from a 16-year-old's facebook. lol

This is how "Customer Service" makes me feel

This is the most amazing, and accurate, depiction of the damage and destruction that these companies cause to our mental health. To ROGERS COMMUNICATIONS in particular - this is how i feel every month when i get my bill. Coincidentally, that was today. I have yet to open it b/c i don't feel like causing myself the following pain. I hate you Rogers, i really fucking hate you.

Thank you to the one and only Cuz for finding it, and to Oatmeal for creating it. Talent.

Amazing things i just discovered!

This is how i feel. Epic.
❒ Taken :D
❒ Single ;)

✔ No longer giving a shit :P

AND Gmail finally let's you format your signature! Years i've been waiting for this! :)

AND Facebook finally went back to having super awesome privacy settings! Sweeeeeeet!

Cutting out the unimportant

My blog inspiration came in the elevator...that was 6 hours ago. Needless to say, i'm not as inspired anymore. I should have a driver (and preferably a limo) to take care of all that time-consuming driving so that i can be free all the time to spread my informal rants. I'll start a fund. Inquire within.

Fantastic weekend! Seeing the girls again was awesome, and reminds me just how much i need to get outta here & move to the city! Life's about spending as much time as possible with your fave ppl and that sure as hell isn't happening here! We had some sushi followed by an extra long getting ready sesh. 6:30pm is as good a time as any to get started for night, no? LOL Didn't see the girls much that night at the bar tho, b/c i had to relocate. Which was awesome b/c i got to see Dan! And my first experience at a gay bar (or a bar on gay night? idk) was rather entertaining. I love doing new shit. Bonus: i made it back safe & sound. haha Its true what ya hear - all a girl needs are her best gals :)
You know what this girl doesn't need? Douchebags who don't now what awesomeness is staring them right in the face...for the last year. I'm done tho, my effort stops here and now. You can have all the life plans you want - and really, props to ya - however MY life plan doesn't include being JUST friends with you. Not to mention waiting around indefinitely. I said today would be the moment of truth and I had a breakthrough tonight, so proud of myself :)

Song of the weekend

All I ever wanted was a one life stand
I could spend forever in a moment like this
All I ever wanted was a one life stand
So take me away...

Well, even I make errors in judgement sometimes.

Report Card - Positive Progress

I am happy to report that my ankle is feeling better! And just to confirm that it isn't my wishful thinking, i asked my pessimistic mom. She did indeed confirm that it is not as swollen as it was when i first got back (5 days ago). All this means nothing to you of course b/c i haven't mentioned my poor damaged ankle. I twisted it 4 weeks ago, which wasn't that big of a deal, happens to everyone. It didn't even hurt all that much. However, a week later i was sitting partially cross-legged and then...well partially sat on it. THAT was some excrutiating pain! And after that it got kind of swollen, etc. I mean, i still wasn't too worried b/c it didn't actually hurt while i was walking or anything, it just wasn't 100%. It was Europe tho, i can't stop walking places! But a month later?! I was getting a bit worried. My less-than-fabulous family doctor put my fears to rest tho - just stay off it for a while and wear a tensor band. I have followed those instructions thoroughly and am pleased with the results. *high five*

I also managed to unpack my suitcase and post all of my pictures and videos! Crazy productive. Pretty proud of myself. Besides the random crap on my desk that i can't find places for! And after all of that, i am one tired muffin so i bid you good night!

Californication:Just a Bad Boy...and i love it!

There are things that Californication does for me that no other show has ever done. Softcore porn aside. I absolutely ADORE this show. And Showtime clearly hates me because it's not back until JANUARY 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's 5 months away! And 4 months longer than i thought i would have to wait! I am seriously disappointed. But this video is still amazing. I have to restrain myself from watching it though because it causes some serious anticipation & anxiety haha

New Template!

And an hour later i have accomplished my goal of finding a new theme i like. And one that will motivate me. Now i just need to find the motivation to post the hundreds of Europe pictures that i took...But right now, this girl's still jet lagged & off to bed!

Blame game

Now now, i know i've failed epicly at blogging while i was galavanting in Europe, no need to remind me. I think it's a lot of things tho. No real internet access so that i can blog when the inspiration strikes me. And i feel like i'm not feeling my theme/layout. I know that's LAME but it's true. Ultimately, laziness likely plays a role and it's all my fault. I will work on it. However I happen to have noticed a new Template Designer feature so i will go explore it now! In hopes of creating more motivation, etc... :)
